Students of the Public Relations and Advertising Department specialise in the areas of social and corporate communication, as well as being trained to become highly skilled, talented professionals in creativity and design. Taught concepts are reinforced with theoretical and practical applications, all set in the dynamic environment of the department. The Department of Public Relations and Advertising accepted its first students in 2005. Theory relevant to the field of communications is studied. Students also gain practical experience through their project work in public relations and advertising. Additional courses are taken to nurture the artistic creativity and design talents of the students.
Throughout their studies, students gain additional knowledge and experience by participating in conferences, international symposiums, workshops and discussions, held with sector specialists and related to such topics as market research, media planning, message design, brand strategies and consumer behaviour. Students are also able to benefit from practical training in all forms of media applications (printed, radio-TV and internet broadcasting), as well as job shadowing professionals, attending practical workshops, and taking courses in such areas as script and scenario writing, film making, news production and photography.
Graduates of the Public Relations and Advertising Department may work as public relations experts, communication consultants, corporate communication coordinators and press/media consultants, in advertising agencies as copywriters, as well as in media institutions and market research companies in a range of positions.
