Overview
The Department of Visual Communication Design trains students to combine their theoretical knowledge with the practical skills related to visual media and communication. Graduates from this department will have a sound knowledge of the sector, and apply their approach to learning and intellectual capacity to the profession. Of note will be their creativity, both in the areas of design and in the aesthetics of their marketing messages. The department accepted its first students in 2007.
Programme structure
In the Department of Visual Communication Design, students are offered courses that require creativity, as well as practical and collective study. These courses include such topics as Illustration, Typography, Photography, Computer Graphics, Video Production, Packaging Design, Web Design and Animation. In addition, there are also theoretical courses related to media and communication.
Career opportunities
Increasing importance is being placed on corporate communication and presentation in today’s public and private sectors. As the demand increases for visual communication designers, so too does the number and range of job opportunities available. Graduates from this department have the opportunity to work as creative designers in different fields of media, in the communication and advertising sectors, and in such specialist areas as desktop publishing, corporate identity design, information graphics, web design, video production, film production, animation, three dimensional modelling and multimedia applications.
